Views from the Lodge
Within a fifteen to twenty minute drive can be found what are probably the most beautiful and least disturbed of all the Lake District lakes. With Bassenthwaite lake, Crummock Water, Loweswater and Buttermere being within easy reach you will soon discover why we believe the northern lakes make the Lake District so special.
The Lake District Osprey Project is located near Bassenthwaite Lake and the viewing areas are within a twenty minute drive from Westnewton Lodge.
Five minutes from the door is the Solway coast designated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Along its length can be found award winning beaches, busy harbours, marinas and various visitor attractions including Maryport Aquarium and Maritime museum.
Cockermouth a traditional market town and birth place of William Wordsworth can be found a little inland, it boasts many fine eating houses and traditional Pubs that are popular with visitors and locals alike. Brayton golf course, coarse fishing lake and Lakeside restaurant are within four miles.
